Communications

The communications major has special characteristics that will make you a valuable addition to prospective employers:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use sight, sounds, and the written word to create a powerful image.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate point of view.
  • Investigative techniques that are crucial in all aspects of communications, especially journalism.
  • Experience and expertise in operating cameras, recorders, and other audiovisual equipment.
  • Gift of transforming complex subject matter into something that is easily understood.
  • Ability to capture an event with minimal words or images.
  • Capacity to mesmerize an audience.
  • Skill to promote the public image of a client.
  • Training to select, evaluate, and edit media and public relation materials.
