JOB OUTLOOK DATA

In 2014, the last year for which data are available, film and video editors and camera operators held about 59,000 jobs, multimedia artists and animators held about 64,000 jobs and producers and directors held about 122,000 jobs. From 2014 to 2024, employment of film and video editors is projected to grow 18 percent, employment of multimedia artists and animators is projected to grow 6 percent and employment of producers and directors is projected to grow 9 percent.

New broadcast methods, such as mobile and online TV, as well as increased special effects and overall available content have produced many more jobs for digital production and cinema professionals. The need to create, edit, translate and send out information through many different platforms also puts these workers in high demand.
