Exercise Science

The exercise science major has special characteristics that will make you a valuable addition to prospective employers:

  • Good physical fitness.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics and health processes of the human body.
  • Capability to assess and treat injuries.
  • Ability to educate and counsel athletes, their families and teams on issues regarding injury prevention and treatment.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills to be a public speaker and motivator.
  • Foundation to work well under pressure and independently.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology necessary to assess and treat their athletes.
  • Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine (special optional opportunity through ACSM workshops to become certified).
